A Message from

An Autocephalous Catholic Jurisdiction

Father David St. John
Dear Visitor,

As Chancellor of the National Catholic Church of North America, and Pastor of St.Valentine Catholic Faith Community, I welcome you to our website and pray that you will come to know and appreciate us as you learn more about our Catholic Jurisdiction.

All of the clergy and parishioners of the churches and faith communities within the jurisdiction of the National Catholic Church of North America worship God in Bible-centered, liturgical settings. In an ecumenical Christian spirit, our doors are open to everyone. We welcome all people to this family in Christ.

We are very happy to offer opportunities for spiritual growth through Eucharist-centered worship and prayer, as well as opportunities for Christian fellowship.

We provide pastoral care by clergy and lay ministers within our churches and faith communities, and provide outreach ministries for the greater communities which surround us.

In short, I believe that we, as independent Catholics, live and worship in a spirit of Christian freedom, as Christ truly taught us to do, free of the dogma, the man-made rules and regulations, and the soul-strangling politics of the larger jurisdiction. Oh, indeed, we have discipline, but our discipline is born out of love.

I came to Independent Catholicism, generally, and the National Catholic Church of North America, specifically, from a strong Lutheran background. In fact, I claim to be one of the few Catholic priests who quotes Martin Luther.  But I do believe, that if Martin Luther were alive today, he would be an Independent Catholic - fully Catholic, Christian, and ecumenical, yet free from the abuses (many of which continue to this day) that caused him to place his Ninety-Five Theses on the door of the Wittenburg church.

Please let us know if you would like to learn more. Send us an e-mail with any questions you may have and we would be happy to respond. Your presence on our web site is a blessing, and having the opportunity to welcome you to one of our Masses would be an even greater blessing.

Respectfully,

The Very Reverend Father David St. John
Chancellor
